2 euro coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Finnish National Ballet.
The National Ballet of Finland celebrates its centennial in 2022. Swan Lake, which premiered in January 1922, was the first ballet performed in Finland and thus a remarkable event in the country's cultural life.
The National Ballet (Suomen Kansallisbaletti) is a professional ballet company at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. The company was founded in 1922 and currently employs 73 dancers. It is the only Finnish company that regularly performs a classical ballet repertoire. During its 100 years, the Finnish National Ballet has evolved from a small, semi-professional group into a professional ballet.
The obverse depicts a dancer covered in a light, flowing fabric that emphasizes the uniqueness of the dancer's pose.
The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
