This is a very beautiful and exceptional example of a NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) certified ancient Attica Athens circa 440-404 BC AR silver tetradrachm with a NGC certified condition grade of “MS” (Mint State), with a NGC graded “5/5” strike quality, and with a NGC graded “5/5” surface quality.
The obverse of this coin features a helmeted head of Athena. The crested helmet of Athena displays laurel leaves and vine scroll. The reverse of this coin features the (iconic) owl, olive spray, and moon. The translation for the “AOE” inscribed lettering found on the reverse of this coin is “Of the Athenians”.
This museum quality premium investment grade ancient coin features a detailed and strong high relief strike, a broad flan, mint state reflective surfaces, with a beautifully sculptured helmeted head of Athena and with a beautifully sculptured owl.
